Yoga to Release Trauma & Move Through Grief with Anjuli Kapur
Capitalism is ever-pushing us to do more, while imperialism tells us that we're not good enough; neither of these notions is true. In this 75-90 min session, you will be invited to reclaim your body, mind, and breath as one. As a balance to our yang way of living (active and always moving), we will seek to reclaim our identities from the busyness of our lives through the practice of yin yoga. Yin allows us to connect with our Spirit-led Selves from a place of center.
We will begin with a centering meditation and invite energy into the space before being introduced to yoga concepts that will help us to understand and release the stress we carry in our bodies. The shedding of our daily traumas through the practice of yin yoga can be transformative and help to create the space we need to be present in each moment.
If you have these available to you, please bring:
A quiet space
Incense for burning
Incense holder
Yoga mat or soft surface (carpet will be fine!)
2 Yoga Blocks
2 Pillows or a Bolster
If you do not, please still come to the space so you can bear witness to and participate in a new (old) kind of practice. The only requirement is that you bring your breath, your mind, and your body.
Anjuli seeks to bring culturally-centered yoga to her community and integrate those practices in her life coaching sessions. Her personal experiences with intimate partner violence, the QLGBT+ spectrum, being a witness to and survivor of sexual, physical, and emotional violence, combined with her professional experience working with both youth and adults involved in the incarceration and foster care systems, make her uniquely positioned to help others build their own resiliency skills as they walk their own life paths.
Anjuli is excited to share this experience with the Rooted community, meeting participants where they are on their personal journeys.
