Step Into Intentional Movement with Joy Marie Thompson & Dunan Kandra
Prepare for your day with a gentle, guided warm up that emphasizes your body-mind connection.
We will begin by asking you to bring forth an intention to guide the warm-up, then dive right into light heat-generative movement, sweep into the Brain Dance (coined by Anne-Green Gilbert), and end by literally stepping back into the intention you initially set forth. This warm-up is open to all. Consider the option of bringing a chair for moderation purposes.
Joy-Marie Thompson (she/they), graduated from SUNY Purchase's Conservatory of Dance in 2018, is a performing artist based in New York City.
She is currently a full time performer for Punchdrunk/Emursive's NYC production of Sleep No More. When not performing they are studying the connections of race, neuroqueerness, and somatic movement.
Dunan Kandra (they/she; pronounced: dune-en kahn-dra) is a neurodivergent, Embodiment Coach and dancer based in Amherst, MA.
They graduated from Hampshire College in 2019, where they began to seek to relieve stress and trauma through somatic-embodied practices and modes of activism in themself and the larger population, with a focus on working with white men and fellow queer folk.
