In this workshop, we worked with the themes of grief, grieving, and the peace in exhalation.There are two texts that we discussed: The first is a poem called Dead Spider You Are Dead By Kari Teicher The second is a poem called Nipiy By Marilyn DumontWe also explored the following prompts: 3 minute List Making Prompt - Because First idea isn’t Necessarily Your Best: Make a list of 10 things you tell yourself that aren’t true. And / OrMake a list of 10 beings/states (human or otherwise, inanimate objects and emotions count too!) that you miss or long for. ___________________________________________________________________________________________15 minute Poetry Writing Prompts - Choose 1 item from your brain storm list and one prompt below to craft a poem around OR write about whatever comes to mind / feels full-bodied.1) What if something from your list that could be resurrected. What would that look like ? 2) What is a question you have for the entity you miss? Ask it in the poem and see how it responds. 3) Recall the ways that the entity you miss or long for still brings you peace or calm.
